We started earlier today to try to finish before the mid day heat. The walk uphill in a cool morning and watching the sunrise and looking at great views was pretty exhilarating! We could look back towards the Pyrenees from where we came, crossed a new mountain range Alto de Perdon where there were scores of windmills moving and capturing electricity for Spain. The downhill was on steep rounded rocks where we had to place our walking sticks carefully so as not to sprain an ankle or knee. I had to be extra careful as my knee was recovering from being sore yesterday.
We are extremely lucky to be able to enjoy world class hiking, great Spanish cuisine, wines and international company. We met our first Russian, Polish, and Icelandic pilgrims today. We chatted with Americans, Mexicans, Spanish, Germans, French, Koreans, Japanese, Australians, Norwedians, and an Australian from Tasmania today.
We detoured 5 km. out of our way today to visit a church in Eunata, thought to be built by The Knights Templar in the 12th century. It is a Romanesque Church built in a similar design as the Holy sepulcher in Jerusalem.
