Day 27. Boadilla del Camino to Carrion de Los Condes. 26 km.

Arrived in Boadillo last night and had to use my stick just to walk around the Alburgue.  Dick said I looked very old. I have been walking every day since the first and hated to make this my first non Camino day but I had to be sensible and listen to my body.  Susan, the Canadian who we have been meeting up with at the alburgues was also having trouble with her leg.  So with my sore knee and her tendonitis our husbands encouraged us to taxi to our next destination.

I had arranged with the hospitalero to call a cab for us.  He said it cost 28 euros to go from Boadillo to Carrion de las Condes.  The cab driver was at the alburgue and agreed to be available if we decided to call him in the morning.  The hospitalero introduced him as Antonio Banderas so that is what I called him.  His last name is Blanco.

While Dick and Pat walked, Susan and I rode first to Fromista to see the church.  Antonio was such a sweet guy and stopped at the church and really was taking care of us.  Amazingly we ran into Dick and Pat in town and had the taxi stopped.  I gave him the camera and we joked with them and the driver and we moved on.  Antonio took us then to the Real Monasterio where I had reservations to look at it but decided not to stay there instead go to the cheaper alburge espiritu santo, run by nuns.  They were closed but let us deposit our backpacks and we went to the plaza to hang out for tea and coffee until the Alburgue opened.  All this time Antono saw to it the nuns took our bags and we knew our way back to the monastery.  We used the time to purchase cream for my sore knee, battery for my watch and a bigger belly bag to fit my IPad!
