Dick stayed in an Alburgue tonight and he is getting emotional about tomorrow being his last day on the Camino.
We met a Spanish couple at breakfast and chatted about being on the camino and that I had tendonitis and he saw me limp from the table. After his breakfast he came to me and told me he was an orthopedic surgeon. i told him I had been praying to meet an orthopedic surgeon to look at my knee. He examined my leg and diagnosed that there was no damage to my knee and that I did have tendonitis so I needed to rest, not walk the camino and continue with my cream and naproxen. I was also put at ease that my knee brace was fine!
He and his wife were visiting from Madrid her relatives. She was born in the tiny pueblo nearby. He joked there were 20 people and 500 cows! They were both very nice and he had a good sense of humor. Later I Asked if it was bad to drink wine with naproxen, he said "only if the wine is bad"! That got a laugh from me.
The Hostal was busy that night. 2 couples from Australia, 2 couples from Spain. A couple from Manchester and myself. The Manchester couple were looking for property in Spain. I sat with them at dinner and breakfast and had a nice conversation with both. He was a police man and shared some police stories. They are looking for a house in Galicia because they had seen a t.v. Show filmed in Galicia.
The family that runs this casa rural are Celia, Juan who is the brother of Raquel in Rectoral de Goian, Veromica and her 6 year old brother, Jesus. These hotel keepers work very hard, up early to serve breakfast and work late to serve dinner. They do all the work themselves, including cleaning, cooking and serving and raising their families. Juan has his front teeth missing which is sad to see for a young man at this modern age.
