On Tuesday our main event was to have lunch with Javi, Jessie's flat mate in Santiago. Dick had met him when he visited Jessie and liked him a lot. Jessie picked the restaurant and it was near our hotel so we just walked. We had a wonderful time with Javi, he is so warm, has a great sense of humor and has a great personality. It was so easy to converse with him. I gave him a great big hug from Jessie and me. Our lunch too was delicious. Jessie had read this had the best menu del dia in all of Spain.
Some pilgrims continue on with their walking to Finnesterre and we were open to the idea but while on the camino I was more interested in taking the bus there instead of walking. But with my tendonitis renting a car sounded like a treat. The hotel recommended the rental company. The car was delivered and picked up at the hotel so it was a good option for us.
We found a wonderful hotel with a view of the ocean and we could see and hear the ocean roar from our bedroom. It was delightful. The hotel served appetizers from the terrace at sunset with wine. We met two Swiss, Conrad and his aunt. We enjoyed each other's company and stayed up late drinking wine. They had done the camino in stages as well as travelled Kiliimanjaro together.
We drove up to the lighthouse to celebrate our camino from the Pyrenees to the Atlantic Ocean. It was breathtaking and so exciting to have completed our journey and see the ocean. On our way down we saw Nya, the young Danish girl who was our roommate in Astorga. She was walking up to see the sunset at the top of the hill. We gave her friend and her a ride up and then arranged for her to get a ride from us next day to Muxia. Seeing pilgrims again after last seeing them on the camino a few days or weeks back is so fun.
