Also Happy Thanksgiving to the Canadians
I had breakfast with the Canadian pilgrims. The homemade pastries were incredible! The Canadians were trying to figure out their pick up point as it looked like it wasn't that easy because the camino was not near a high way. You either had to do a short hike or a very long hike to get to town and this group didn't think they could make it all the way to the farther town. I took a long bath and my knee feels fine but not sure how long it will last. I am worried my right knee might go too because I am using it a lot to compensate for the left.
John, the groups driver, had a massage, joined me for tea and pastries and then got his text message to pick up the group.
Dick called to let me know he was in Sarria. Interestingly, he met up with the Spanish couple, Maria and Javier I met on the train and walked with them for a while then they realized I was married to him. Small world, they said "el Mundo es una panuela." The world is a handkerchief.
Javier, from the hotel picked him up. Great to see him and he looked thinner having walked for 6 straight days and doing lots of miles. He has about 5 days to get to Santiago and have walked every step of the way from the Pyrenees. My leg is not better so I am resigned to not finishing the last 100 km. but am proud to have gone the distance I already did.
Our pilgrim group tonight are still the Canadians and here we are with them at dinner celebrating their Thanksgiving with an asparagus wrapped in pastry, broiled salmon and frozen yogurt with raspberry topping all home made. We joined hands, Ray said a prayer thanking the Lord for all his blessings and Dick added the prayer "the lord is my Shepard ..... In Spanish which he has memorized. It was all very nice. A great way to spend Thanksgiving away from home. This group call themselves the Brad pack for Bill, Ray, Anne, Debbie. I don't know where John fits in. He is doing the driving for them.
