Sesimbra, Portugal

Ate breakfast at the gas station across the camp site and got directions to go to Sesimbra.  I was in Sesimbra in 1973.  I reread  my travel journal of 1973-1974  before I left home this week.   This tiny fishing village impressed me so much, I wrote in my diary it was one of three places in my trip I wanted to revisit.  We arrived here in 1973, close to sunset, saw fishermen coming in on their boats bringing their catch of the day, stayed in a local village home and had the most delicious seafood meal.  The locals were so welcoming and warm.  The sunset was spectacular.  I loved the place.

Of course 40 years later it has grown and modernized.  It is a small town, but it has many condos built in the hillside that foreigners own and the tiny marina where the fishing boats anchored is a big port.  It is still a beautiful town.  Some things are better left in your memories.  However, I am not sorry I returned.  This brings me to another place I want to revisit.  Cape Clear Island in Southern Ireland.  I'll have to decide later if we go.
