Monte Gordo

We left Sagress and drove westward along the Algarve towards Spain.  Our campground is at Monte Gordo.  We stopped here because it is the last campground before we head to Alcautin.  Dick wants to see Alcautin because it has the lowest population density of any municipality in Portugal and the most unchanged.  

                                       

We took it slow today and had breakfast in the van, granola cereal and milk.  

                                     

                                       

We stopped at Tavira for lunch.  We had a tasty fish soup.  Then Dick wanted  to try the snails.  It came in a big bowl, must be 500 of those snails. It was labor intensive getting the snail out of its shell with toothpick.  I did most of the work for  him because I knew it would take a long time for him to do it all and he is not one to waste food and will not leave it uneaten.  I also did not want it bagged up to go.  I only ate a few.  He gave up after a while though and left about 200 more snails on the plate!  We will not order snails again.  It wasn't very good and worth all the work!  The snails were the puniest size.
