On the Road Again - Portugal

We arrived in Lisbon after a very smooth flight and was met by Iago from Campervan West.  What a psychedelic van we have, our home for the next 8 nights.  It is a Renault Van.  He explained the mechanics of the van, helped us map out our trip and gave us directions to head out of town.

Guicho was our destination for the first night.  It was half an hour from Lisbon and towards Sintra, a town Jessie suggested was a must see.  We missed the first turn off and had to get directions from other drivers on the road.  I rolled down my window, signaled the driver next to me to roll his window down and then shouted " Cascais", the town we were heading to.  Somehow, we found our way stopping several times for directions.

Why did we not get a GPS?  It cost extra and for 8 days we figured a good old fashioned map could get us there.  It also has the added benefit of us, asking people for directions and meeting the locals.  We are also practicing our Spanish in a Portuguese speaking country!

Guicho is a lovely, small town on the coast.  We had dinner at the only restaurant opened on a Monday.  I ordered bacalau, a Portuguese specialty.  It is salted cod and it was delicious.

Our campground was super clean but not very exciting.  It poured rain that night and we woke up to  heavy rains.  Fortunately, it stopped by mid morning and we were off to Sintra.
